Curator’s clip description

The Guthega project, on the Snowy-Murray Development of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, is explained.

Curator’s notes

The Guthega project, consisting of Guthega Dam and Power Station, was the first project completed by the Snowy Mountains Scheme, and was carried out in what was then a very remote and difficult location. Shot around 1952, this is interesting footage of the early operations of, and early personnel employed by, the Scheme. The Snowy River’s unimpeded flow, the first engineers on the project and a young Commissioner William Hudson are notable inclusions.
