Curator’s clip description

In the early morning, Peter (Clayton Williamson) and his mother Connie (Lynette Curran) are collecting shells on the beach when Peter first encounters the strange apparition of a young boy (Aaron Ferguson) calling to him. Back at their caravan park home, Peter says goodbye to his unconventional mum Connie, and sets off to school. At the bus stop, he meets serious Margaret (Kate McDonald), the Mayor’s daughter and Wayne (Emil Minty) and his flashy dad. The strange boy appears again in the distance.

Curator’s notes

This clip introduces the three main characters. The contrast between these three and their larger-than-life families provides much of the humour in the film.
