Curator’s notes

Craig Hamilton is a charismatic and articulate man. His explanation of what was happening to him as he suffered a nervous breakdown in 2000 really helps us to understand what a mental illness is all about. This excellent Compass program is based on the book Broken Open which Craig Hamilton felt compelled to write soon after he’d recovered some equilibrium after his bi-polar breakdown.

Compass defies easy definitions of its subject matter. Produced by the ABC‘s Religion and Ethics Unit, its stories range wide across the breadth of moral issues we face throughout our lives.
