Synopsis
The documentary is an overview of the process of making saints in the Roman Catholic Church. The documentary includes a cameo of the Blessed Mary MacKillop, potentially Australia’s first saint. Filming takes place in Rome and other European cities.
Curator’s notes
Pope John Paul II beatified and canonised more people than any of his predecessors in the 20th century. The film was made when the new pope was breaking with more conservative tradition. The film is both informative and entertaining in that the tone is, at times, lightly satirical and serious when appropriate.
