Curator’s clip description

After the Indonesian President Suhato was removed from power, the Acehnese in the north were promised a better life. However, Indonesian soldiers continued to oppose the Free Aceh Movement which, in response, intensified its push for independence, as human rights activist Musliadi explains. The clip shows conflict in the streets between demonstrators and soldiers in which soldiers shoot at and physically assault unarmed demonstrators.
