Curator’s clip description

After a long drive from the city, Trevor, the officer in charge (David Argue), pulls into a country pub for a drink. Constable Nikki Iceton (Gia Carides) is appalled when he chains his prisoner Kath (Lydia Miller) to a tap. Inside the bar, they have a screaming argument. Outside, a stranger who has been following them (Brian Syron) helps the prisoner attempt an escape.

Curator’s notes

Most of the comedy comes naturally from David Argue’s bizarre portrayal of a cop who’s basically a degenerate. Argue’s demeanour in this scene tells us Trevor is probably an alcoholic, as well as a racist – but the way he keeps asking Nikki if she wants a drink puts a comic softener on the way we see him.
