When Gayle married Mac she was, and still is, a great beauty. She always looked her best. In order to help her to maintain her sense of worth, Mac is learning how to apply makeup for her.
Curator’s notes
This sensitively shot sequence of a simple everyday activity with a twist effectively shows us a wonderful moment of intimacy between this remarkable young couple. In voice-over we hear the couple’s own thoughts about their marriage and their relationship. This is very much the style of Australian Story which allows people to tell their own story at their own pace, thus allowing the audience to really feel they have been invited into the subjects’ lives.
