Curator’s clip description

This brief home movie clip, all shot hand-held by the Archibald family, captures a group of women dressing a toddler for beach play on what looks like Newport Beach, Sydney in the early 1930s.

Curator’s notes

The beauty of this home movie clip is that it gives us a glimpse into the lives of ordinary Australians on a typical Sydney beach. The toddler expresses curiosity in the camera, coming right up to the lens.
